Matthew 21:28-32 28 “But give me your opinion: a man had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’ 29 He answered, ‘I don’t want to’; but later he changed his mind and went. 30 The father went to his other son and said the same thing. This one answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he didn’t go. 31 Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they replied. “That’s right!” Yeshua said to them. “I tell you that the tax-collectors and
Matthew 3:13-17 13 Then Yeshua came from the Galil to the Yarden to be immersed by Yochanan.14 But Yochanan tried to stop him. “You are coming to me? I ought to be immersed by you!”15 However, Yeshua answered him, “Let it be this way now, because we should do everything righteousness requires.” Then Yochanan let him.16 As soon as Yeshua had been immersed, he came up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, he saw the Spirit of God coming down upon him like a dove,1
Matthew 3:7-12 7 But when Yochanan saw many of the P’rushim and Tz’dukim (Pharisees and Saduccees) coming to be immersed by him, he said to them, “You snakes! Who warned you to escape the coming punishment?8 If you have really turned from your sins to God, produce fruit that will prove it!9 And don’t suppose you can comfort yourselves by saying, ‘Avraham is our father’! For I tell you that God can raise up for Avraham sons from these stones!10 Already the axe is at the root o
Matthew 3:1-6 It was during those days that Yochanan the Immerser arrived in the desert of Y’hudah and began proclaiming the message, 2 “Turn from your sins to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!” 3 This is the man Yesha‘yahu was talking about when he said, “The voice of someone crying out:
‘In the desert prepare the way of Adonai!
Make straight paths for him!’” 4 Yochanan wore clothes of camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild
Peace. We all long for it. It is something so many people would like to find. John 14:27 “What I am leaving with you is shalom — I am giving you my shalom. I don’t give the way the world gives. Don’t let yourselves be upset or frightened. (CJB) Jesus makes it clear that HE brings peace. What does it mean when He says, “I don’t give the way the world gives?” The world desires peace externally. The world wants no wars. The world wants no conflict. The world wants everyone to “l
I opened my YouVersion BibleApp again today and saw the verse. I knew immediately I needed to share it. It is a common verse, but with the Complete Jewish Bible and The Passion Translation the wording brings a little more depth and insight. John 14:1 “Don’t let yourselves be disturbed. Trust in God and trust in me. (CJB) “Don’t worry or surrender to your fear. For you’ve believed in God, now trust and believe in me also. (TPT) I believe that we all grew up knowing this verse
Our family read through the tiny book, “Secrets of the Vine” about a month ago. Today when the verse from John showed up… John 15:5 “I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who stay united with me, and I with them, are the ones who bear much fruit; because apart from me you can’t do a thing. (CJB) Today I had to stop and think about WHO is in control. WHO am I listening too? WHO do I depend on? The next question is... WHO do YOU want to stay united with? We all know tha
Prayer. Persist. Don’t give up… All words that have been swirling in my head for several days. Today is yet another verse with the same idea… John 16:33 “I have said these things to you so that, united with me, you may have shalom. In the world, you have tsuris. But be brave! I have conquered the world!” (CJB) The first item to address is the word “tsuris.” This means, “trouble.” Jesus was telling His disciples that they will face trouble. Life will not be easy all the time.
Friday… It always means Shabbat. This week Shabbat was considered a “high holy Shabbat” because it was also Passover. This means that this year (2019) Jesus was crucified on a Friday. He was buried on a Friday afternoon. 3 days and 3 nights later means He will actually raise again between sundown Monday night and Tuesday morning. Because of the circumstances surrounding what happened 2000 years ago… I chose to read from a passage about the crucification. John 19:9-10 He went
Today I decided to look for a verse on FAITH. The first one that showed up is one that was a huge encouragement to me back in college. I forget when I first “claimed” it as a life verse, but it has always been on that brings STRENGTH and COURAGE to me when I am down. I John 5:5 Who does overcome the world if not the person who believes that Yeshua is the Son of God? (CJB) I actually prefer this verse in the NIV version I learned it in so many years ago… Who is it that overcom
