Jesus stayed Silent...
Friday… It always means Shabbat. This week Shabbat was considered a “high holy Shabbat” because it was also Passover. This means that this year (2019) Jesus was crucified on a Friday. He was buried on a Friday afternoon. 3 days and 3 nights later means He will actually raise again between sundown Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Because of the circumstances surrounding what happened 2000 years ago… I chose to read from a passage about the crucification.
John 19:9-10
He went back into the headquarters and asked Yeshua, “Where are you from?” But Yeshua didn’t answer. So Pilate said to him, “You refuse to speak to me? Don’t you understand that it is in my power either to set you free or to have you executed on the stake?” (CJB)
I usually try to do a verse about rest on Shabbat. In a way, this verse can be about rest. How, you may ask? Jesus chose to stop and be silent. He chose to not answer when He was interrogated. He chose to be still and only speak when the Father told Him to speak.
Jesus knew that when people were coming against Him the best thing to do was be silent. The best thing to do is wait and only SPEAK when the HOLY SPIRIT says too.
God is ultimately in control of every situation.
Sometimes it means that we must STOP and BE STILL and SILENT.
Today, as Shabbat and Passover coincide and give us extra time for reflection and thoughts…
