Routine

I have been processing all day today and thinking about writing, but again - wasn't sure what to write about.

Pulling out my Shabbat Prayer book Mishkan T'filah A Reform Siddur I was blessed once again. From page 145:

TEACH ME, O God, a blessing, a prayer

on the mystery of a withered leaf,

on ripened fruit so fair,

on the freedom to see, to sense,

to breath, to know. to hope, to despair.

Teach my lips a blessing, a hymn of praise,

as each morning and night

You renew Your days,

lest my day be today as the one before:

lest routine set my ways.

As much as I hate change and love a routine, this prayer spoke to me. Becoming to settled in a routine can be dangerous. It can cause us to trust the routine rather than God. The line that hit me most was, "You renew Your days." GOD is in control. He renews everything every morning, and that is the best way to face the day.

Looking every morning for a prayer in a "withered leaf," or a blessing in "ripened fruit" gives us HOPE for the future.

I had years of constant change. It was often stressful. And yet - it forced me to Trust my Creator. It made me seek Him every morning.

Routine is great, until we need it so much that we stop trusting Him.

That is my Shabbat insight today. I pray it blesses you and gives you HOPE as you LOVE daily for Him.

Love and blessings,

Rose
