Peace

Matthew 28:8-15

8 So they left the tomb quickly, frightened yet filled with joy; and they ran to give the news to his talmidim (disciples/students). 9 Suddenly Yeshua met them and said, “Shalom!” They came up and took hold of his feet as they fell down in front of him. 10 Then Yeshua said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go and tell my brothers to go to the Galil, and they will see me there.”

11 As they were going, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the head cohanim (priest) everything that had happened. 12 Then they met with the elders; and after discussing the matter, they gave the soldiers a sizeable sum of money 13 and said to them, “Tell people, ‘His talmidim came during the night and stole his body while we were sleeping.’ 14 If the governor hears of it, we will put things right with him and keep you from getting in trouble.” 15 The soldiers took the money and did as they were told, and this story has been spread about by Judeans till this very day.

"Shalom." The first words from Jesus to the women as they were running to tell the disciples. They had no idea where Jesus was. They had no thought as to when they would see Him. They were simply running to tell the disciples the news the angel had given them.

Shalom. I'm sure that word brought comfort to their ears. In the middle of what was probably chaos in the city, Jesus spoke peace.

The guards were afraid. They knew they could be killed for what happened. The fact that the elders and religious leaders were willing to lie for them says a lot. What is interesting is, why were the disciples not arrested for stealing the body? Why were they not brought in for questions?

Maybe they were and we just didn't hear about it, however it seems this would have been notated. It shows us the "empty threats" that can sometimes exist when fear sets in.

These couple verses once again show us that Jesus, in the middle of chaos, can bring peace. They show us that God really does have control of all things, even when everything is uncertain.

Keep trusting Him today. In a world where leaders are feeding us lies and the TRUTH is hard to find, HIS WORDS are Truth. HIS WORDS bring LIFE. His Words will be the lamp to your feet and the light to your path.

Love and blessings,

Rose
