Thoughts...

I woke up this morning wanting to write, but not knowing what to write about.

I pulled a book off the shelf that I have not looked at in a long time. Mishkan T'Filah A Reform Siddur. A prayer book for Shabbat.

Opening it I read this on page 43:

FROM THE COWARDICE that shrinks from new truth,

From the laziness that is content with half-truths,

From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth,

O God of truth, deliver us.

Blessed is Adonai,

Teacher of Torah to our people Israel.

Adonai is the Creator of all Truth. When we turn from that we lose... I firmly believe that. Torah is not what most people believe it is. It isn't just laws to follow. It is teachings that bring LIFE.

Torah is also not just for the Jews. The Words and Truth of Torah are what Jesus taught and are engraved in the Words and teachings of the "New Testament."

When we cower from learning new truth, or lazy enough to be content with half-truth, or arrogant enough to believe we know all truth - we miss what HE should be doing in us.

His Words are living and active. They should bring us HOPE in these days that are uncertain.

Praying that I can seek HIS truth every day. I admit I fail. I struggle with each of the issues listed above. Some days I don't want to learn. Others I am definitely lazy and content with what I know. Arrogance that I know it all seeps in as well.

Recognizing these in me is the first way to stop and focus on change. Asking HIM to show them in me each and every day - believing that HIS Truths will strengthen me is the HOPE that gets me through.

Today - don't give up on seeking His Truth. Ask Him to bring LIFE to you from HIS Words.

Those are my Shabbat thoughts and I pray that they will bring HOPE to you. I pray that they will bring you LOVE to share with those around you.

Love and blessings,

Rose
