Where is your Home?

Matthew 8:18-22

18 When Yeshua saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.19 A Torah-teacher approached and said to him, “Rabbi, I will follow you wherever you go.” 20 Yeshua said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds flying about have nests, but the Son of Man has no home of his own.” 21 Another of the talmidim (disciples/students) said to him, “Sir, first let me go and bury my father.” 22 But Yeshua replied, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

I will be honest and say that I have not researched, or studied, as to why Jesus would say, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead." It seems harsh and cruel. The idea of not having a home, I can kind of understand. If Jesus was traveling around and teaching, not having a true place to call "home" would be legit.

The lifestyle Jesus had to live was definitely not easy. Following His footsteps is challenging. You never know the twists and turns. I guess life, in general, is like this. One never knows what will come next.

Following Adonai adds another dimension. When you truly desire to meet the needs of others, often you stop and care for someone beside the road, or talk to someone at the coffee shop. When you care for others as you care for yourself, there can be more "unexpected turns."

As you are on this journey, be ready for whatever He requires. It won't be what you "want" all the time. Obviously, if it is from Him, it will be what you NEED. And, anywhere you are with HIM, then you are "HOME."

Love and blessings,
