Shine like the sun...

Matthew 13:36-43

36 Then he left the crowds and went into the house. His talmidim (disciples/students) approached him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” 37 He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man; 38 the field is the world. As for the good seed, these are the people who belong to the Kingdom; and the weeds are the people who belong to the Evil One. 39 The enemy who sows them is the Adversary, the harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. 40 Just as the weeds are collected and burned up in the fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send forth his angels, and they will collect out of his Kingdom all the things that cause people to sin and all the people who are far from Torah; 42 and they will throw them into the fiery furnace, where people will wail and grind their teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let him hear!

An explanation for the parable of the weeds in the field... His disciples requested it. Sometimes we must stop and ask for an explanation. Maybe it is a discussion with another person, maybe it is asking Holy Spirit for revelation, or maybe it is simply reading the Word over and over until you just know...

First thing to notice is, Jesus left the crowds. We often think that we should always be "busy" or "doing work," but we know that many times Jesus left the crowds. Sometimes to pray, sometimes to be alone, and in this case, to be with his disciples. He responded to their request for an explanation.

Jesus explained that the sower is actually the Son of Man, so He was speaking of Himself. We don't receive information to know if the disciples have made this connection yet. It is much easier for us to do this today because we have all the written information that the disciples did not yet have.

So, Jesus is the sower. The field is the world we live in. The good seed is the good people. The weeds are the people who belong to the "evil one." The enemy sows the seeds for those weeds.

The piece I find intriguing in this parable is the angels who will come and remove the evil ones. This parable shows that the evil will be removed from the world. The angels are going to separate the good and the bad. The bad will thrown into the fiery furnace, the good will stay!

I am not into discussing the rapture and all the different explanations that surround that idea. I believe that God knows what and how this will all occur. I believe that too often we have frivolous arguments and discussions over what will happen in the "end times."

Bottom line, God wants us PREPARED and ready. God wants us to KNOW Him in Spirit and Truth. He wants us to stay away from evil and follow His Torah commands for Life and Life more abundant. He wants us to SHINE LIKE THE SUN and have ears to hear.

Take hold of these words today and LISTEN to what HE needs you to do...

Shabbat Shalom,

Rose
