Focus on things above...
Our family continues to read through the book of Colossians. It is only 4 chapters, but has a lot power packed in it.
Colossians 3:2
Focus your minds on the things above, not on things here on earth. (CJB)
Some days we just have to THINK outside the norm. Some days we just have to FOCUS on HIM and not deal with the things around us.
What does that look like?
Looking a couple verses down in 14 and 15 we read:
Above all these, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together perfectly; and let the shalom which comes from the Messiah be your heart’s decision-maker, for this is why you were called to be part of a single Body. And be thankful… (CJB)
When we clothe ourselves with things from above - HIS LOVE - and let HIS PEACE surround us, than we have HIS decisions in our hearts. HIS decisions are always best, so we should WANT to focus our minds on things above…
I know that when I focus on things around me, I get discouraged and tired. When I focus on HIS promises and LOVE, I can walk in that love.
The last line is “And be thankful…” Once again another “command” to be thankful.
Take charge of your thoughts today. Take charge of your actions today. Make them focused on HIM first, than let HIM shine through you to those around you.
