I have had so much running around in my head that I want to write about. None of it has "gelled" enough for me to actually write. Even as I sat down this morning I wasn't clear, but then the word "broken" hit me. I started writing this with that word in mind. As I wrote everything changed and I knew I needed to change the word to "CHOSEN."

So often the New Year is about being refreshed and renewed. Start over. Put new ideas and new resolutions into place.

What if we should start the New Year from a place of knowing we are chosen?

Too many people in this world have no idea where they belong or who they are. Wondering and basically existing. They go to work and home. This world is filled with hurting people... Are we helping them understand that they are not broken? Are we helping the believe that they are in this world for a reason?

I read something yesterday that blew my mind. It has to do with eggs and sperm so bear with me a little bit. Here is a snippet of an article that explains what I saw on a post on Instagram:

There is ample evidence to show that as millions of human sperm cells swim towards a waiting ovum or egg, only one gets to fertilize it. Now, a new study shows that even though the fastest and most capable sperms reach the ovum first, it is the egg that has the final say on which sperm fertilizes it. The study titled, "Chemical signals from eggs facilitate cryptic female choice in humans," is published in the latest issue of the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

This next piece is from the AI generated search when I typed in what I was trying to find:

  • This research moves beyond the old idea that fertilization is simply a race where the fastest sperm wins, revealing a sophisticated biochemical matchmaking process.

  • It highlights that the egg isn't passive but an active participant, making crucial decisions at the last moment to ensure successful reproduction.

We have been taught that the fastest and strongest sperm is the one that penetrates the egg and caused it to reproduce. That has all changed. There is now evidence to show that this is not true. The egg can actually reject sperm it is "not compatible with." The article on Instagram said this, "The egg senses. Feels. Chooses." "If the egg doesn't respond, no one enters."

There is so much packed into this knowledge. If an egg doesn't want a sperm - it will reject it. The egg actually chooses which sperm it wants to allow in.

Friends - we were fearfully and wonderfully made. We were CHOSEN to be here. YOU are a product of something much greater than you realize and YOU can make a difference. It was not a random happening with the fastest and strongest sperm dominating the race. It was a mutual coming together with an egg creating the space for a compatible sperm to create LIFE.

Start the New Year knowing you were CHOSEN. Believe that YOU are here for a reason and walk in that knowledge today. I believe that if we all realize this simple truth, we would be able to walk in freedom and love.

It is Shabbat. A day to reflect and rest.

Shabbat Shalom -

Rose

Psalm 139:14-16

I thank you because I am awesomely made,

wonderfully; your works are wonders —

I know this very well.

My bones were not hidden from you

when I was being made in secret,

intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes could see me as an embryo,

but in your book all my days were already written;

my days had been shaped

before any of them existed.
