Think about your life!

The prophets. Sometimes we overlook them and think there is nothing relevant in those books for today. I tend to believe that prophecy is progressive and should always be viewed as moving forward. The Words written in the Bible may have been spoken to the Hebrew people years ago, but if the Word of God is LIVING and active, than those Words still hold power today. Here is a TRUTH from the book of Haggai:

Haggai 1:5-6

Therefore here is what Adonai-Tzva’ot says:

‘Think about your life!

You sow much but bring in little;

you eat but aren’t satisfied;

you drink but never have enough;

you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm;

and he who works for a living earns wages

that are put in a bag full of holes.’” (CJB)

Adonai says to, “Think about your life!”

It seems that the people of the day were never satisfied. They ate and drank, but “didn’t have enough.” It seems they put on clothes, but “were not warm.”

The last two lines are the ones I found the most interesting. I believe many people feel this way today.

“He who works for a living earns wages that are put in a bag full of holes.”

So many people feel like they are just working to live day to day. So many people feel like money comes in and goes back out.

I think that Adonai is right when He says, “THINK ABOUT YOUR LIFE!”

It doesn’t mean that one has to have a lot of money. However, how we spend that money is important. Are we sowing into others? If we are not giving to others, how do we expect to reap? It can be as simple as giving someone a cookie. I read about a young man who makes muffins to sell, and for every muffin he sells he gives one to a homeless person. One day at the grocery store I noticed the cashier that usually helps me looked tired, and I knew that she had been there probably 10 hours (I had seen her earlier in the day). I asked what her favorite chocolate bar was and picked one up to bless her with. The smile on her face changed and she had a better countenance from that small, simple act. I walked away with a peaceful heart because she was encouraged.

It is time for us to THINK ABOUT what we are doing and make a STRONG effort to take care of those around us. When we begin to take those steps we don’t think about the money being put in a “bag of holes” because we see fruit. We see the results of someone being thankful for what we did.

Think simple, but think outside the box. Be a blessing to those around you, and THINK ABOUT YOUR LIFE!

Love and blessings,

Rose
