Stay on the path of LIFE
Proverbs 2:16-22
They will save you from a woman who is a stranger,
from a loose woman with smooth talk,
17 who abandons the ruler she had in her youth
and forgets the covenant of her God.
18 Her house is sinking toward death,
her paths lead to the dead.
19 None who go to her return;
they never regain the path to life.
20 Thus you will walk on the way of good people
and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright will live in the land,
the pure-hearted will remain there;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
the unfaithful rooted out of it.
As we finish chapter 2, we once again see the word, "they" at the beginning. Once again this word refers back to verse 1:
My son, if you will receive my words
and store my commands inside you,
These Words need to be shared over and over. "receive my words." "store my commands inside you."
In order to "know" someone, you spend time with them and you learn from them. You LISTEN to what they say.
It is the same thing with the Word of God. In order to KNOW Him, you must LISTEN to what He says. The way to listen is also through reading His Words, asking HIM to show you HIS way as you read.
If we do not take the time to read His Words, than you will not be able to discern between Truth and lies. It will be easier to get pulled in to the "stranger" who has chosen to forget God. The path to LIFE is lost.
We often believe that this happens when someone gets involved in a life of drugs, alcohol, prostitution etc... Friends, sometimes the path to life is lost in religion. Sometimes we get sucked into listening to leaders who keep us in bondage because they teach wrong instruction about how to apply the Word of God. They are like the Pharisees and Sadducees whose teachings brought destruction. They are often smooth and easy to listen too, but in the end it is not a good path.
It is time we ask HIM to help us rightly divide the Word of Truth. It is time we seek HIS voice and LISTEN to Him.
The last two verses explain it all. Those who are upright and pure-hearted will remain. The wicked and unfaithful will be rooted out.
Which path do you want to stay on? Do you want to keep LIFE flowing in you? If so, RECEIVE the Words of Adonai. STORE His commands inside of you. WALK with HIM and let Him be your guide. Then you will find LIFE!
