Make a Change

Proverbs 4:14-19

Don’t follow the path of the wicked

or walk on the way of evildoers.

15 Avoid it, don’t go on it,

turn away from it, and pass on.

16 For they can’t sleep if they haven’t done evil,

they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone fall.

17 For they eat the bread of wickedness

and drink the wine of violence.

18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,

shining ever brighter until full daylight.

19 The way of the wicked is like darkness;

they don’t even know what makes them stumble.

The book of Proverbs is very good at telling us what to do, but it also tells us what NOT to do. These verses focus on what to stay away from.

  • Don't follow the path of the wicked

  • Don't walk on the way of evildoers

We often think that we are not going to do evil. "I won't go anywhere there is evil..." It almost becomes a pride thing because we think we are not as bad as someone else. And yet, we worry. We think too much about tomorrow and what is going to happen. We gossip. We eat too much. Those actions are all considered lawlessness, or sin, in the Bible.

There is a reason we are told to take the log out of our own eye before we say anything to someone else. Too often we do not look at what we are doing and make changes to ourselves. It's easier to look at others and point out their faults. We want them to change.

Walking the path of evil causes people to stumble. In fact, the last verse says, "they don't even know what makes them stumble." Evil gets so caught up in itself that one loses the ability to know what they are doing. It becomes so natural that a person begins to believe that doing the evil is actually okay.

I believe that we are living in times where the darkness is trying to infiltrate the light. In fact, it is harder and harder to distinguish between good and evil. Who can you trust? People you thought were "good" suddenly have things brought to light and you realize they have been stumbling in the dark.

Evil is not okay. We must all stop and ask ourselves about thoughts we need to take captive. We need to stop and listen to the words we speak and stop speaking words that are not TRUTH. All of this happens faster when we KNOW the Word of God and His Truths.

Friends, take time today to reflect on your own life and make a change. Don't compare yourself to anyone else. Look at YOU and ask, "what do I need to do different?" When you take time to remove something evil from your life, HIS Light will shine more brightly through you and you will find peace.

Love and blessings,

Rose
