How to win Favor
Proverbs 3:1-4
My son, don’t forget my teaching, keep my commands in your heart; 2 for they will add to you many days, years of life and peace.
3 Do not let grace and truth leave you — bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and esteem in the sight of God and of people.
The first Words are once again, "don't forget my teaching..." We have already read similar phrases to this several times. LISTEN, DON'T FORGET... Now we add:
KEEP my commands in your heart
BIND them around your neck
WRITE them on the tablet of your heart
Three things we can DO in order to remember what Adonai says. Why would we want to do this? Because:
They will add to you many days
They will add years of life and peace
Then you will win favor and esteem in the sight of God and people
What does the world try to achieve? Longer life, peace and esteem with others. These verses clearly tell us that the way to receive these things would be too "KEEP His commands!" Yet, what is the most frowned upon thing to do and what is taken away in schools and public places? The Word of God has been removed.
His commands are not what we think at times. We look at a "long list" and say, "I can never achieve that!" We say, "I'm covered in grace." It is only with His strength that we can even walk any of this out, but we cannot let His commands scare us or intimidate us. We must read with new eyes and hear with new ears when we say we want to follow Him. This is what I learned when I was in Israel. It changed me from the inside out.
Friends, we cannot rely on others to give us Truth. We cannot assume that even our well known teachers are bringing us His Truth. We must be reading and seeking for ourselves! We must be asking Holy Spirit to bring His Words of Truth to us. Reveal to us what YOU want Father!
So far Proverbs is making it clear that we need to be in HIS Words as often as we can. We need to be ASKING Him to REVEAL His Truth to us. Take time to do that today so that you can find HIS Peace.
