Always Room to Grow

Proverbs 4:1-9

Listen, children, to a father’s instruction; pay attention, in order to gain insight; 2 for I am giving you good advice; so don’t abandon my teaching. 3 For I too was once a child to my father; and my mother, too, thought of me as her special darling. 4 He too taught me; he said to me, “Let your heart treasure my words; keep my commands, and live; 5 gain wisdom, gain insight; don’t forget or turn from the words I am saying. 6 Don’t abandon [wisdom]; then she will preserve you; love her, and she will protect you. 7 The beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom! And along with all your getting, get insight! 8 Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will bring you honor; 9 she will give your head a garland of grace, bestow on you a crown of glory.”

"I am giving you good advice..."

"Don't abandon my teaching..."

These Words are coming from a Father who loves you. These Words are written so you can have LIFE. "Keep my commands, and LIVE" He tells us.

So often we want to move away from, and get rid of commands. We want to walk away from what we are told to do. Bottom line, we must evaluate what is Truth and what isn't. We must ask HIM for wisdom. We must KEEP the Words that are from HIM and treasure them in our hearts.

Verse five says, "gain wisdom, gain insight." Verse seven says, "the beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom!" I LOVE the exclamation mark at the end of that. It is said with emphasis! The next line is what makes me smile:

"And along with all your getting, get insight!" We may be receiving so much from all the technology around us, but as we receive we MUST ask for insight. What is this teaching me and bringing to me? Are these things lifting HIM up, or just bringing craziness and chaos? Don't just pass information along to pass it on. Make sure that you have INSIGHT into ALL you are "getting."

Friends, we live in times of chaos and craziness. It isn't easy to HEAR the TRUTH in the middle of it all. That is why we must be DAILY listening to HIM. We must be following what HE wants from us. It may not always look like everyone else, but when we are on HIS path and following HIS wisdom, it will be level for us to walk on.

“Let your heart treasure my words; keep my commands, and live;

This is what we need to do. Hold them close to you. There is always room to grow.

Love and blessings,

Rose
