Through the Spirit we have LIFE...
Yesterday my Bible App had a verse from Galatians as the verse of the day. As I read the whole chapter, I chose to add another verse with it.
Galatians 5:24-25
Moreover, those who belong to the Messiah Yeshua have put their old nature to death on the stake, along with its passions and desires. Since it is through the Spirit that we have Life, let it also be through the Spirit that we order our lives day by day. (CJB)
Verse 24 speaks about an old nature being put to “death on the stake.” A couple of days ago I had a verse that spoke about letting go in order to follow Jesus. He told us that in order to follow Him we must “take up our cross.”
I look at this verse above to tie in with that. Both verses tell us to “let something go.” We have to leave behind our passions and desires.
Some people choose to read verses like this and say that Jesus/God is controlling or forcing a person to give up things. Well… if we choose to look at the Word as a whole, we know that the PROMISES of God always tell us that IF God is going to give us the desires of our heart, we need to follow HIS Covenants and teachings. When we LISTEN to HIS Words with our whole heart, HE blesses us.
As we continue to read, verse 25 shows us that it is through the SPIRIT that we have LIFE. So, it is through the Spirit that we should order our lives day by day.
Every day we need to ask the Spirit to order our steps. We need to turn our lives over to what He wants of us, and when we do, His blessings will flow.
There might be times that we “give up” something, but if we truly believe HIS Words, we know that HE will return it with something better than we imagine.
Recognize today that HE wants to bless you with LIFE and LIFE abundant. Let the Holy Spirit live IN YOU and THROUGH YOU. Let the Spirit order your life.
