Shabbat was made for mankind...
Today’s verse is from Words that Jesus spoke. He was not happy with how the Pharisees were questioning him about what He was doing on Shabbat. He challenged them to remember something David had done, which was forbidden. He wanted them to stop and think about what exactly Shabbat is about.
These are the Words he spoke in Mark 2:27:
Then he said to them, “Shabbat was made for mankind, not mankind for Shabbat; (CJB)
God’s intent for Shabbat is for man to realize that Shabbat is for them. He created this special day so man had time to rest! He created this day for man to spend with HIM.
Man did not create Shabbat. God did.
All man has to do is stop. All man has to do is recognize that God needs a day with man.
Today, recognize that God created this day for YOU. HE wants YOU to spend time with Him.
If you stop and wonder why, I bet it is because HE LOVES YOU! Why else would someone want to spend time with you?
