HIS POWER will Rest...
His POWER will Rest when we admit our weaknesses… 2 Corinthians 12:9
As I mentioned in the FaceBook Live video I did earlier, I read a verse this morning on my Bible App by YouVersion. This verse was the “verse of the day.”
but he told me, “My grace is enough for you, for my power is brought to perfection in weakness.” Therefore, I am very happy to boast about my weaknesses, in order that the Messiah’s power will rest upon me.
In this verse the LORD is telling Paul that His grace is enough. Paul does not need to think about being weak, because when he is weak the LORD’s power is brought to perfection.
With this knowledge, Paul makes it clear that he is happy to boast about his weaknesses. What are those weaknesses? Paul does not make that clear, but we do know that he had a “thorn in his flesh” that would not go away. There are different thoughts about what that “thorn” could be.
One thing I believe we should consider, our weaknesses are most likely issues that we struggle with: pride, lack of trust, anger, gossip, gluttony, negativity, etc… We all have areas that we would consider a “growth area.” We need to strive to improve them because we cannot live in a constant state of weakness.
However, it is good to know that even in our struggles and issues, God is still willing to use us. He still wants HIS POWER to flow through us.
What we must remember is, WE HAVE TO ADMIT TO OUR WEAKNESSES. Yes, I am kind of “shouting” this. I think it is something that we do not like to do. It is not easy to admit when we are wrong. It is not easy to admit we struggle with jealousy, or lack of trust.
This verse makes it clear that IF we admit our weaknesses, and even BOAST about our weaknesses, God’s POWER will rest upon us.
Today, be willing to admit your weaknesses to God. Let HIM take control of them. He WANTS to use you for HIS honor and glory, but that can only happen if you work with Him.
