Your KING is coming to you...

This week is what we call Passion Week. Our family follows the Hebrew Calendar for holidays and celebrates Passover. Today I want to look at a prophecy that Jesus fulfilled and completed when He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.

Zechariah 9:9

Rejoice with all your heart, daughter of Tziyon!

Shout out loud, daughter of Yerushalayim!

Look! Your king is coming to you.

He is righteous, and he is victorious.

Yet he is humble — he’s riding on a donkey,

yes, on a lowly donkey’s colt. (CJB)

The prophet Zechariah spoke these words years before anyone even knew Jesus would be born. He told the people that their KING would be humble and ride on a donkey. He was given Words from God to point the people to watch for the humble King.

When Jesus entered Jerusalem on that day, those cheering Him would have known the prophecy. Okay, well maybe some did and some didn’t. Just like today, there are those who read and study the Word and those who just cheer along because they can. I’m sure that day in Jerusalem the crowds of people had the same mixture. Some people KNEW that this was the KING that had been prophesied about, and others were just cheering “because it was the thing to do.” One thing we do know, the prophecy was there for anyone interested in reading it.

We know that Jesus DID enter Jerusalem on a donkey and can connect the dots much easier. We can put puzzle pieces together because we have written accounts of all of it. They only had the prophets written and had to TRUST that what they were SEEING happen before their eyes was really what God had said would come to pass.

Today we TRUST that what is written is TRUTH! Because we can see ALL the dots connecting, we can REJOICE and SHOUT OUT LOUD! We can KNOW that the KING is coming. HE is RIGHTEOUS! HE is VICTORIOUS! We have more reasons to believe than they did!

Don’t let the doubts come. Don’t let the lies try to steal your JOY. REJOICE in the KING!

Love and blessings,

Rose
