Watch for the wink

Proverbs 10:6-10

Blessings are for the head of the righteous, but the speech of the wicked is a cover for violence. 7 The memory of the righteous will be for a blessing, but the reputation of the wicked will rot. 8 Wise-hearted people take orders, but a babbling fool will have trouble.

9 He who walks purely walks securely, but he who walks in crooked ways will be found out.

10 He who winks his eye [instead of rebuking] causes pain, yet a babbling fool will have trouble.

I had to stop a bit as I read these verses because the last verse says, "He who winks his eye causes pain..." The girls and I went shopping this past Saturday and as we walked into one of the stores an employee, a younger guy, greeted us and winked. My oldest daughter looked at me and said, "Did he just wink?" I know the young man was doing it to be welcoming and kind, but to be honest, it creeped us out. Later, as I was looking for something, he saw me again and although he did not wink, his question asking if I was finding everything okay left me a bit unnerved. I honestly did not want to be near him and close to him. It left me feeling a little bit odd.

Some people might say he was just being kind, but there are ways that something as simple as a wink can draw you in and hook you. Once that happens than the next step is well...

There is Truth in the fact that if you talk too much, it can cause trouble. If you are crooked you will be found out. And a simple wink, one must be careful because you can get drawn in to a scheme you never wished to be a part of.

Verse eight says how wise-hearted people should be, and that is take orders. Wise people will take to heart and discern what needs to happen in order to have LIFE.

it is time that those who follow Adonai to rise up and be WISE. LISTEN to HIS ways and you will walk securely. Don't listen to the babbling fool and watch for the wink. Don't get trapped by something innocent.

Love and blessings,
