Adonai is GOOD...

The book of Nahum is short, and most people would probably consider it violent and judgmental. It is only a three chapter book, but lots of prophecies to be considered.

Let’s look at the first two verses of this book first.

Nahum 1:1-2

Adonai is a jealous and vengeful God.

Adonai avenges; he knows how to be angry.

Adonai takes vengeance on his foes

and stores up wrath for his enemies. (CJB)

If this was all I read, I would be discouraged. I would wonder what kind of God I was following and question if He was any different than other gods I had heard about. Remember, back when Nahum (a prophet) was speaking these words there were lots of other gods spoken about. Each nation had many gods they were choosing to follow. The Israelites knew about these gods. Some of them chose to listen to those nations and walked away from God.

Sometimes we forget that other nations today still believe in many gods. In India, China, Africa etc... there are still places that have an understanding that there are more than one god. Many people in this world still believe in many gods.

We must continue reading the book of Nahum to understand that Adonai God is different than other gods. Verse 7 says this:

Nahum 1:7

Adonai is good,

a stronghold in time of trouble;

he takes care of those

who take refuge in him. (CJB)

Adonai is GOOD. He is a STRONGHOLD. He TAKES CARE of those who look to Him and seek refuge in HIM.

THIS is the verse that sets our God apart from other Gods. THIS is the PROMISE that our God gives us so we can RUN to HIM and HOLD FAST to Him.

The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob CARES about YOU. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob KNOWS YOU. If He will take care of the birds, how much more will He take care of you!

TRUST this God will all your HEART, SOUL and MIND. Than share HIS LOVE with others.

Love and blessings,

Rose
