Don't Envy, Don't Compare

Proverbs 3:31-35

Don’t envy a man of violence,

don’t choose any of his ways;

32 for the perverse is an abomination to Adonai,

but he shares his secret counsel with the upright.

33 Adonai’s curse is in the house of the wicked,

but he blesses the home of the righteous.

34 The scornful he scorns,

but gives grace to the humble.

35 The wise win honor,

but fools win shame.

Wise and foolish... As we finish chapter three, it is quite clear that we should not follow the man of violence. Seems a wise choice. Adonai finds their ways perverse. Adonai's curse is in their house. It doesn't say Adonai curses them... It says that his curse is in their house. Those who choose not to follow HIs ways he scorns. The fools win shame.

So, why does it seem that those who are not following the ways of the Lord are often times happier and seem more secure in who they are? A dear friend told me last night that maybe it is because the enemy knows he doesn't have to mess with them to get them off track. If they aren't following God, he doesn't care about them. The enemy wants to get more people off track, so he attacks those who love God.

Friends, I believe that is true. The enemy is going to do all he can to make our lives difficult. BUT, in the middle of the difficulties we still have an obligation to LISTEN to Adonai and FOLLOW His ways! The promises of what happens when we do are endless!

Adonai will:

  • share His secret counsel with the upright

  • blesses the home of the righteous

  • gives grace to the humble

  • the wise win honor

As you walk through the day today, don't envy anyone around you. Don't compare yourself with those you meet. It isn't worth the pain and heartache. Look UP and KNOW that He is your God. He CARES for YOU and will walk with you each and every step of the way. This is where you will find LIFE!

Love and blessings,

Rose
