Torah is LIFE...
I went back and forth today about what verse to read/use. I saw one in Psalms, but I had one from Romans. The one in Romans required more “teaching” because there are layers wrapped around it. However, that is the one I chose to do.
Romans 10:5
For Moshe writes about the righteousness grounded in the Torah that the person who does these things will attain life through them. (CJB)
I choose to use the Complete Jewish Bible because our family has found that it takes things back to the Hebrew understanding. It is not perfect, but it does have language that when it is read - gives us a new understanding about Jew and Gentile together. When we have used this to read things in different communities, everyone comments on the translation and words used.
This verse clearly gives us the understanding that the righteous will be grounded in Torah and that the person who does these things “WILL ATTAIN LIFE.”
Jesus was the Word become flesh. Jesus taught Torah. Jesus LIVED Torah. Jesus WAS Torah. If we choose to follow Him, we choose to follow Torah.
If we look at the whole chapter of 10 there is so much to process. I chose to look at verse 11 also:
For the passage quoted says that everyone who rests his trust on him will not be humiliated. (CJB)
As we read, it says, “EVERYONE” who rests his trust on HIM will not be humiliated. This clearly means everyone. Not just Jews. Not just Gentiles. As long as you TRUST on HIM and HIS Words there is LIFE.
I choose to believe Jesus when He said He was God and with God. I know not everyone is able to do that. I have found FREEDOM and LIFE since I chose to believe. I also know that following Torah has grounded me.
Take time to read something that might be “new,” but brings a deeper understanding of God and who He is. Rest your trust in HIM.
Love and blessings,
Rose
